Hospitality English

This is a 2 to 8 week program that meets for 5 to 7 hours per week, based on the individual program chosen.  It is designed to enable the hospitality industry worker to function in English, that is, to perform their job and converse on topics related to their job.  This is especially beneficial to those who have no previous language training. The goal is to enable the individual to “do their jobs in English.”

Why This Program?

We have found that even in the major cities like Shanghai, just by the sheer number of visitors to the city, there is a need for service workers to be able to have some level of English training. This need especially impacts those industries that have the most interaction with visitors to the city.  Many of these workers currently have difficulties communicating with hotel guests, for instance, about their simplest needs.  Improving their English skills benefit all parties involved; the needs of the guests will be satisfied, the staff will feel more competent and the establishment will receive higher customer satisfaction ratings, which translates into customer loyalty and referral business.  This program promises to improve the experience of visitors to the city.
